Elegance, comfort, and a bit of edge, are the words I had in mind while designing the Take Me On Maxi Shirt Dress.
The floral version is made from a mid-weight linen/cotton blend fabric in a stunning romantic and neutral print (that reminded me of one of my favourite 80s videos, Take On Me by A-ha).
The lavender and black striped version is made from a gorgeous lightweight deadstock linen/viscose/rayon blend fabric.
The red and burgundy trim version is made from a compact cotton that has a utility feel to it. It’s very “crispy” and a hard wearing statement piece. I love it for travelling!
For all versions, we used a contrasting cotton in the collar, button panel and piping along the tier to make a statement. Some other thoughtful features include pintucks in the front for shaping, with a small elastic section at the back waist for flexibility and comfort. Short sleeves and shoulder detailing provide a balanced silhouette and keep you cooler on warmer days. Let’s not forget pockets – large enough for your phone, and there is a generous amount of fabric in this dress that offers lots of volume and twirling potential!
Note: We have made some very cool customised versions of this dress, behind the scenes., using other deadstock fabrics I have available. Styling Guide
Dress it up with a pair of heels, wedges, or strappy sandals in the warmer weather. In the cooler months, you can layer a black polo neck underneather, unbutton the bottom of the dress and show off a pair of black knee high boots or ankle length sock boots. If you like to create dramatic looks, consider buttoning only the top half of the dress, and pairing it with wide-leg pants or jeans on the bottom.

I adore my Maxi Shirt Dress! It fits like a glove and has a great volume at the bottom which moves beautifully as I walk.
I am curvy in body shape, with a belly. This dress is tailored in such a way that my figure looks its best. It’s super comfy without any tight or clingy bits, just a lot of freedom and grace.
Honestly, this is the best looking and feeling tailored dress I HAVE EVER worn.

- NZ Standard delivery (spend $0-$149) – NZD$5.50
Allow 1-3 business days within New Zealand (tracking number will be sent with shipment notification)
- Australia – Flat rate of NZD$20
Allow 7-10 business days (tracking number will be sent with shipment notification)
Cancellation / Return / Exchange Policy
We want you to love your Mad Nomad garments. If something isn’t quite right, please reach out to us within 7 days of receiving your order, and we’ll work together to find the best solution for you.
Customised garments
(made to your measurements or with special adjustments): These pieces are final sale, as they are made just for you. However, if the fit isn’t as expected, please let us know – we may be able to offer an alteration or exchange on a case-by-case basis.
Standard made-to-order garments:
If you ordered a standard size without any adjustments and you need a different fit, we may be able to offer an exchange for store credit, provided the garment is unworn and in its original condition.
Returns & Refunds:
We do not offer refunds for change of mind. However, if your garment is faulty and cannot be repaired, we will replace or refund it. Please email us at bibi@madnomad.nz with photos and a description of the fault within 7 days of receiving your order.
Return Conditions and Process:
- Items must be unworn, in original condition, with all tags attached – this helps us find them a new home if needed.
- Customers are responsible for return shipping costs (we recommend a tracked service for peace of mind.)
- Once we receive your return, we’ll process your refund, exchange, or store credit and email you a confirmation.
Our fabrics are often sourced in limited quantities to keep our designs exclusive and reduce waste. If you request an exchange for an item made from a fabric that is no longer available, we’ll do our best to offer an alternative from our current fabric selection. If no suitable alternative is available, we will issue you a store credit or refund as per our policy. Every Mad Nomad garment is made with care and attention to detail – if you have any questions, please let us know. We’re here to help and ensure you feel amazing in your new wardrobe!
